Madikeri: The annual festival of bringing in new crops to the houses of Kodava citizens, was celebrated with fervour, gaiety and a traditional obedience by all Kodavas and Gowdas in Kodagu state today with song and dance in traditional attires.
Rituals started after the first harvest was cut at Iggutappa’s field at 8.45 pm on Monday, with religious ceremonies promoted by Paradanda family and their priest Kusha at the temple. Rice Kheer was distributed at the temple to devotees. The region was filled with fire cracker bursts and flashes. Kodava families participated with enthusiasm in this farming festival all over Kodagu.
