Delhi: Former Chief Minister and Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency MP Basavaraj Bommai took the oath in the name of God in Kannada.
In the new Parliament building on Monday, he took the oath as the MP for Haveri-Gadag constituency during the oath-taking ceremony of the new MPs.
Provisional Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Bhartuhari Mahtab, administered the oath to him.
Bommai, expressing his thoughts on his oath on X, said, “This is a very proud and significant moment in my political life. I took the oath in Kannada as the representative of the people of the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency as the 18th Lok Sabha member.
I am forever indebted to the voters of the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency for enabling me to be the voice of Karnataka and Kannada in the presence of India’s democracy.
My efforts will always be towards the comprehensive development of India and Karnataka, and I will always strive for holistic progress.”
