Mysore : Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt has made it clear that he had not stated anywhere that Brahmins should not have Saha Pankti Bhojan(lunch together with members of all other communities).
Speaking at the inaugural of the Sri Kalyana Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swami Temple at Kalyanagiri here, he said he had only appealed at the recently held Brahmins Conference that Brahmins who have been practicing a vegetarian diet since ages, should continue with that.
The seer further said his statement has been misconstrued and that he had never opposed Saha Pankti Bhojan. Those having any doubt can even watch video clippings of the function, the seer said.
He also said he was working towards the task of promoting communal amity and added he had never said anything which hurt anyone.
Maadara Chennayya Swamiji of Maadara Chennayya Gurupeetha, who spoke on the occasion said the Pejawar seer was unnecessarily dragged into controversies.
Sri Shivananda Puri Swamiji of Kaginele Mutt, Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Melukote, SA Ramdas, State Minister for Medical Education and others were present on the occasion.
