Bangalore: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has said he will adopt his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa’s model of development, but asserted that he would not be a shadow of the former CM.
“I know, everybody is thinking that I will be a shadow of Yeddyurappa. Such apprehensions were also there when I was the president of the state BJP. Only time will tell what I am going to be. Give me a month’s time,” Gowda said at his maiden press conference on Thursday immediately after taking oath as the CM.
Ever since Yeddyurappa backed him in the race for CM’s post, Gowda is being seen as the former’s man. Yeddyurappa’s claim to make a comeback in six months has only added fuel to this speculation.
Gowda said: “I am not the one to speculate about future. There are other people to do that. We cannot say it is wrong if a person aspires to make a comeback after relinquishing the office.”
Further he said in politics nothing could be ruled out. “Whoever comes to power claims that he would complete a five-year term. But there are instances when people leave the office midway,” he added.
About the infighting in the state party unit and the absence of Jagadish Shettar’s camp at the swearingin ceremony, he said such things were common in any party, and expressed confidence of overcoming it.
He said he would expand his Cabinet in the next few days after consulting party-leaders- EB
