Udupi: Udupi district In-Charge Minister Pramod Madwaraj received memorandum from Udupi Bunts community seeking transparent and unbiased probe in businessman Bhaskar Shetty murder case, on Wednesday at Ammanna Ramani hall.
Community also urge to transfer this case to SP Annamalai and to keep this case away from ‘money power’.
Addressing the gathering Minister Madhwaraj said that the incident took place soon after Annamalai’s transfer to Chikkamagaluru. If it becomes necessary then I will talk to Home Minister to transfer the case to SP Annamalai.
“The investigation officer is changed as the case wasn’t gaining the speed. Instead of Manipal circle Inspector ASP Suman is taking up the case. I have heard that Rs 2 crore were withdrawn from Bhaskar’s account. Police should investigate where has that money gone. Surely I will look after the matter and I ensure you that money will not play any role in the case,” he said.
He further said that The case will be handed over to the CID or CBI if there is no satisfactory progress in the case. He will not stop until the culprits are punished.
Birthi Rajesh Shetty said that Gulabi Shetty, Bhaskar’s mother was made to wait outside of the station while she went to file complaint after her son went missing. Police forced her to rite a missing complaint instead of alleging anything.
“This shows that money is playing its vital role in the case. Police were been influenced in the case from the beginning itself. Then she went to Minister Pramod who called up ASP Vishnuvarda and handed over the case to him,” he added.
Fr William Martis said, “This incident has brought shame to Udupi district. Due to the slow progress in the investigation, people are losing trust in the police.”
Bhaskar’s mother Gulabi Shetty, former MLA Annappa Hegde, Ajith Kumar Malady, Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Uday Kumar Shetty and others were present.
