Mangalore : Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister for Road and Highways has said that there will be a Special Secretary to monitor developmental projects in DK and Udupi districts soon.

He was speaking after accepting memorandum from JR Lobo, MLA and Rachana at a discussion on Development of Coastal Karnataka held in Mangalore on September 22, Sunday.

The memorandum highlighted various demands including fly over at Nantur, better approach road to airport, mono rails,  tunnel way at Shiradi Ghat etc,

Oscar said there are plans to have a tunnel way at Shiradi Ghat using Japanese technology and talks were underway.

To a question, Oscar said the proposed thermal power project at Niddodi will be dropped if the people do not want.

Oscar was felicitated on the occasion by the Bishop.
