Bantwal : After a officers level meeting held with district police, IGP (western range) Harishekharan has ordered the police to open fire on anyone who tries to attack or assault the cops.
The fanatic forces on Saturday created unpleasant incidents during funeral procession of RSS worker Sharath and subsequent issues, to bring situation under control the IGP has ordered the police to shoot anyone who tries to escape inspection near checkposts.

After the stone-pelting incidents on Saturday July 9 during the funeral procession of RSS worker Sharath and Kuttar youth assaulted incidents. IGP gave these instructions to curb communal forces in region.
Western Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Harishekharan speaking to the media persons here, the police have opened 26 check posts in Bantwal and 7 sectors have been demarcated from Farangipete to Kalladka and Vittal, and 26 checkposts have been installed along the route to prevent any unpleasant incident in the district. The police have also directed to fire at any one who tries to attack them or tries to escape without stopping their vehicles for inspection at respective check posts in the district. Altogether,
As many as 20 suspects have been arrested in connection with the stone pelting incident occurred during funeral procession of RSS worker on Saturday, IGP said.
Regarding Sharath’s murder, the police are collecting evidence in order to trace the culprits, the IGP said.
Also, the superintendent of police (SP) has been directed to seek assistance from the city crime branch in nabbing Sharath’s murderers, IGP Harishekaran said, adding that the district and the city police need to work together in solving the brutal crime.
