Mangaluru : A total of 34,733 students including 17,749 female students from Dakshina Kannada district will appear for the II PUC examinations which will commence from Thursday, March 12.
As many as 15,746 students have registered for commerce, 12,236 for science and 6,751 have registered for arts stream in the district.
Flying squads and vigilance squads have been constituted to look into smooth conduct of the exam. The Department of PU Education has made arrangements to conduct the examination in 52 centres across the district.
The department has constituted 10 flying squads to check malpractices during examination in the district. Each flying squad will have three officials including a chairman and two members. Principal of government PU colleges from other districts will serve as chairmen for the flying squads in Dakshina Kannada district.
In addition to flying squad, the Deputy Director of PU education Thimmaiah will lead a district level squad to check malpractices. Each examination centre will have a vigilance squad. Examinations will be held till March 27.
Deputy Commissioner has clamped prohibitory order within 200 metre radius of the examination centres. All the photo copying shops have been asked to close down from 8 am till the exam ends.
