Mangalore : An illegal gas cylinders filling racket, using cooking gas (cylinders) into vehicular commercial gas (cylinders) at Vaidyanath Nagar near Attavar, has been detected and busted by DC. V. Ponnuraj and Food & Civil supplies department along with consumer Affairs department officials on the land that belonged to Lakshman Salian but misused by one Tilak on Thursday morning in the city.
Deputy Director of Food & Civil supplies, Vrashabha Rajendra Murthy and his team have seized the illicit gas filling materials at 9 Am but have not taken the persons involved in the racket into custody at Kandayi Thota of Attavara. A phone call received by the Food & Civil supplies early in the morning today triggered the action guided by DC/Magistrate.27 gas cylinders (12 big, 15 small) along with a spring balance were seized.
The domestic gases (cooking) supplied by M/s Konkan Gas and Bharat Gas were being supplied to Autorickshaws by Tilak, it was revealed in the investigation, but the sale was unauthorized and illegal, it appears.
The place where this unlawful gas sale racket was being conducted was owned by L.Salian.
DC V. Ponnuraj has visited the spot. Assistant Director Suresh Kumar of civil supplies dept, Food Inspector Devappa, Narayana Alva, Moosa Kunhi and Vasu Shetty were in the raid team.
The case is being transferred to Pandeshwar police department from F.C.S. department, its Dy. Director. Vrishabh Rajendra Murthy informed the Media today.
