Mangaluru: The district police on Friday seized three sand-laden lorries bound to Kerala from Mangaluru and arrested three persons in Vittal.

The arrested are Ibrahim,21, resident of Natekal, Hairsh,30, Vorkady, Majeshwar and Abdul Rauf, 34, resident of Belthangady taluk.

Police said the trio were illegally transporting sand from Kallapu to Kerala. Police intercepted the lorries near Vittal and seized them as there was no valid permit to transport sand. A case has been registered at Vittal police station. Vittal police sub-inspector, Nagaraj and personnel attached to the station were involved in early morning operation.
