At the Urva Marigudi today, June 21, a group of 29 Bajrangis were arrested with leader P. Sharan for trespassing in to the temple where a land dispute has cropped up.
The controversial land was the subject of a legal dispute, so the Urva police had restricted entry for outsiders to the “disputed” area. The Bajrang Dal activists barged in to protest and make a noise around the temple premises, and were promptly taken into custody by the arms of law.
Hoovayya, who had bought a portion of the land and added some more to construct a Nagabana (a serpents’ home) there, but later he sold it, a land of 45 cents. But Hoovayya had illegally acquired 15 cents of this land, say the temple authorities. The dispute is in court.
Bajarangis wanted the Naga (serpent) stone to be brought back from Kudupu where it is kept now, and be re-installed.
