Mangalore : The Buntwal Tahsildar had seized sand in lorry loads being sent from Kariangala village in Buntwal taluk to Kerala by Umesh Achary, S/o. Ramappa Achary, on 21st June 2010.
Umesh Achar, disregarding the state seizure of this sand, had unlawfully removed 2 loads on June 25 in a lorry (KA 19 4017) and another (KA 19B 2517) and clandestinely sent them to Kerala without prior permission of DC in Mangalore.
The DC, in a press note on 01-07-10 informed the public that the Tahsildar of Buntwal had complained against the accused Umesh Achary to rural Buntwal Police to register a criminal case. Following this action, Umesh P. was produced in a court of law which remanded the accused to judicial custody till July 13, 2010. Umesh is a member of Kariangala GP, but an offender now in custody.
It is hereby warned by DC, that anyone who stores sand without informing Revenue Department and taking prior permission, will be arrested and the vehicles used for sand transpiration will be seized for necessary legal action, irrespective of their position, the press mete sated.
