Mangaluru : In a complaint filed against IMA for organising Doctor’s Day in the city violating COVID norms, Dr. Kakkilaya stated COVID-19 protocols and measures were violated during the event held on July 29, at the auditorium of IMA.
He further added that a few media houses also took note of the violation and reported the incident.
Dr. Kakkilaya also added that some of the office-bearers of IMA did not wear face masks during the event and stood next to each other violating the COVID rules.
“The Doctors were violating the COVID-19 rules without wearing face masks and violating physical distancing norms,” Dr. Kakkilaya wrote in his complaint.
Dr. Kakkilaya has named IMA Mangaluru President Dr. MAR Kudva, Secretary Dr. Animesh Jain, Treasurer Dr. Kumaraswamy U, Dr. MK Bhat, Dr. Ramachandra Kamath claiming that they did not wear masks and were not maintaining physical distancing during the event.
He has demanded action against the violators under section 269 of IPA and sections 4, 5, and 9 of the Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act 2020.
The police after receiving the complaint stated that a preliminary inquiry will be held into the matter and an FIR can later be filed in this regard. The case can also be transferred to Mangaluru City Corporation after preliminary investigation, police said.
