Mangalore : The imposing structure of the renovated Jamia Masjid at Kudroli was inaugurated by K Rahman Khan, Union Minister for Minority Affairs at a function on February 16, Saturday.
The building in Mughal architectural style, is on the model of the Jamia Masjid of Delhi.
In his address Rahman Khan urged the Muslim community to follow the footsteps of Prophet Mohammad and also devote time to social welfare activities. Moulana Mufti Mohammed Ashraf Ali Baqavi, member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar, Qazi of Dakshina Kannada district were the chief guests.
K S Mohammed Masood, former MLC and President of Jamia Masjid, Kudroli who presided over the function, said the mosque was originally built during the times of Tipu Sultan and was famous as Jodu Palli.
Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat said religious places should promote peace and harmony.
