Mangalore : DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated the one-stop Crisis Centre which is helping to women by providing medical, legal and psychological support under one-roof at Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangalore on November 1, Saturday.
Gertrude Veigas, Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Welfare, said that, a counselor, two legal advisors, three social workers, two doctors, four nurses and a lady police officer available in the One-Stop Crisis Centre to help victims of sexual assault.
The 181 Helpline will be integrated with the Centre, The victims can file the FIR in center any time. Facilities will also be offered to the victims with the help of Prajna Counselling Centre, she said.
“As victims may come late at night, we have assigned rooms near the reception centre. A bigger room is also available for this purpose on the first floor of the hospital,” said Shakuntala M.M, Medical Superintendent, Lady Goschen Hospital.
Apart from gynaecologists, services of three social workers and a counsellor will be available at the ward. Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Gertrude Vegas said services of social workers and counsellors will be available round the clock. “These social workers and the counsellor are already on duty,” she said.
A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shakuntala, Medical Superintendent of Lady Goschen Hospital, Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangalore North, Police inspector Cheluvaraj and others were present.
