Mangaluru: The prices of essential commodities will probably rise after the Karaval Karnataka Lorry Owners association decided to start an indefinite strike in protest against the union government’s move of frequently increasing diesel prices. The strike started from June 18th.
The association’s chief secretary for D.K. Sachin Kulai informed about the strike in the press release. The central government’s move to frequently increase diesel price is causing trouble to lorry owners and public alike. Our repeated written requests on the issue to the central government were not effective. The increase in insurance price to be paid by the lorry owners has only created yet another problem to the lorry owners.
Due to this, all lorry owners throughout the nation are going to pull back their services on June 18th. There are more than 200 lorry owners in the D.K. district branch on Karavali Karnataka Lorry owners association and all have decided to be part of the strike, disclosed the release.
Udupi district lorry owner’s association president Rajesh Kaveri informed that they will take their decision in two to three days.
