Mangaluru: The district administration celebrated 70th Independence Day celebration, on Monday, at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru. District In-Charge Minister Ramanath Rai hoisted the national flag .

Minister Ramanath Rai urged the people to eliminate the ant-social elements and to live in harmony and brotherhood. He also remembered the soldiers who laid their lives for the country.

“It becomes our duty to respect the national flag. It is our pride. We need to keep our environment clean. Instead of polluting it let’s plant saplings which gives fresh and clean air,” he said.

He also briefed the developmental works carried out by the Congress government. “The government has fulfilled most of the promises given during the election,” he added.

‘Pragathi Ratha’ was flagged off by the Minister, which will travel throughout the district to educate the people about the developmental works carried out by the government.

IGP Arun Chakravarthy, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA J R Lobo and Mohiuddhin Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Commissioner Chandra Sekhar, SP Bhuashan Gulabrao Borase and others were present.
