Mangalore: As part of 10th year celebration of Sarojini – Madhusudan Kushe Educational Institutions, the staff and management have arranged an Arts Festival at SMK School in Attavara PVS Baug, Mangalore for 3 days starting from 19th Nov and ending on 21st Nov, 2010.
The inaugural ceremony was held on Friday morning, with Sham S.Rao, Director of Symphony music Institute in Ajman / Sharjah (Arabian Gulf), lighting the traditional lamp. A Ishwarayya, Art critic in Manipal, was the guest of honour.
In his speech after the inauguration, Shan S.Rao commended the introduction of arts in schools and colleges, like sports and other extra curricular activities, to develop the talents hidden among the students. The arts manifest through school dramas, musical evenings and games besides paintings and fine arts. The children are pleased to take part in singing and dancing programmes, losing their initial fear of the stage. They do perform folk dances, Yakshagana episodes and singing of Bhajans / light music / folk songs. They need guidance for flowering of their individual arts / talents, Rao indicated.
The Valedictory function is scheduled on 22nd Nov, Monday evening, with H.K Padmacharan, music director, as Guest of honour, K.K Upadhyaya, Principal, informed.
Madhusudan Kushe presided on the occasion with his wife Sarojini as founder managing Trustee. Inter-school competitions and cultural programmes were held on the occasion.
