Udupi: The Tapta Mudra Dharana ritual was held at the Sri Krishna Mutt here on Friday.
A large number of devotees took part in the event. Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt, Ishapriya Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Admar Mutt, and Vidyarajeshwara Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Palimar Mutt, stamped images of shankha (conch) and chakra (wheel) on the chests and arms of the devotees. These seals were earlier heated at the Sudarshana Homa at the temple.
The chakra is stamped on the right arm, while the shanka on the left. In the case of women, the seals are stamped only on their arms. This ritual is held on the Prathama Ekadashi or Sayani Ekadashi.
The ritual was also held at Sri Admar Mutt here. Vishwapriya Tirtha Swami of Admar Mutt stamped the figures of the shanka and the chakra on chests and arms of devotees.
