The award ‘Pro Ecclesia et Pontifiec’ was conferred to Meena Rebimbus on behalf of her husband late singer Wilfy Rebimbus at Jeppu parish after the morning mass on June 20, Sunday.
Fr Dennis Moras, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese, presented the award with the highest honour from the Pope of the Vatican for lay people belonging to the Church.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Vicar, Jeppu Church, said that Wilfy was always in favour of church and worked for the welfare of the church. He always took part in parish activities with interest. The songs written by Wilfy attracted the people towards the Christianity and conveyed good messages.
Rev Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop, had honoured Meena Rebimbus had honoured Meena Rebimbus on the occasion of St Antony’s fest that was held at Milagres Church on June 13, but the parish priest celebrated on Holy mass.
Wilfy’s fans and United Youngsters were present on the occasion. Vishwas Rebimbus thanked all the people present for rendering their support.
