Mangaluru : Along with the special status of the country through various fields, yoga and meditation have also found a special place in the world in recent years, Dr. M. Mohan Alva opined.
He was speaking on Tuesday while inaugurating a yoga training for journalists and their family members from 12th to 24th in association with Devika Yoga Classes at the press club in the city.
He said that due to the positive effects of yoga on mental and physical health, it is necessary to give more emphasis to such training.
Devika Purushottam, director of Devika Yoga Classes, said that at least one hour of yoga between journalists’ day-long stressful work will have a sufficient effect mentally and physically.
She said that, she has been conducting free trainings in different parts of the state for the past 20 years after receiving yoga training from Yoga Guru Iyengar, and said that she uses the money given as gurudakshina during the training to supply the Ashrams with necessary materials.
