Mangaluru: “There is no place for communalists in politics, but the country is in the hand of communalists. Only the communist party has fought against communalism with their theoretic ideology,” said CPM state Secretary G V Sriram Reddy.
Speaking at the district-level Souharda Samavesha organised by the district unit of the CPM at Town Hall on Monday, he said that communal organisations have been engaged in violence in the name of patriotism. Sangh Parivar is involved in such activities, he said.
He said that communalists have no development agenda. Their only agenda is violence. There is no difference between the communalism of minority and majority. If both are not eliminated, the future of the nation will be bleak.
“The Congress is weak not only ideologically but also politically. It has no strength to fight against communalism. Regional parties are always thinking about attaining power. Therefore, one cannot expect them to fight communalism. Only the Left parties can efficiently face communalism. The Left parties also have the responsibility of initiating people’s movement,” he said.
“During the last Assembly elections, the Congress took advantage of the fights carried out by the Left parties against communalism and won votes in the coastal belt. Although there are three ministers from the coastal region, no action was taken against communalism. The coastal districts have been laboratories of experiment for communalists,” He added.
CPM district unit secretary K Vasant Achari, CPM leaders K R Sriyan, Yadav Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal and B Balakrishna Shetty were present.
