Baroda (Gujerat): In the third ODI of 50 overs played at Vadodara (Baroda) left-handed Indian little opener and captain substitute, Gautam Gambhir of Delhi hit a splendid century to clinch the One Day series from New Zealand team today.
He was not out on 126 with 16 fours at the Reliance Stadium, out of a total 225 runs needed to seal the fate of New Zealand Kiwis, 3-0. Gambhir had hit 138 not out at Jaipur earlier.
In the visitors’ team James Franklin hit a daring 72 not out to raise his team’s total to 224 for 9 wickets. Indian quickies Zaheer Khan and R. Ashwini, along with Yusuf Pathan took 2 wickets each. M.S. Dhoni, Harbhajan, Sehwag and Sreeshant were resting, while Gambhir led India.
