Udupi : Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, said on Friday that India was aiming to become a ‘Tuberculosis-free country’ by 2025.
He was speaking after inaugurating the World TB Day function organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and other organisations here. The theme of this year’s TB Day is Unite to end TB, leave no one behind’.
Mr. Madhwaraj said the World Health Organisation (WHO) was aiming to eradicate tuberculosis from the world by 2035.
Awareness about the disease, its early identification, and complete treatment helps in its cure. Tuberculosis is a communicable disease.
The government is providing free treatment to all cases diagnosed, he said.
