Belthangady: During the combing operation made by Anti-Naxal Force(ANF) members on Saturday to catch 25 Naxal adventurers in a forest here, a constable Sadashiva Choudhary(25) had a close cut of hairs, when the bullet fired by a naxalite grazed his head, without penetrating it.

Injured cop Choudhary was admitted to a Primary Health Centre in Belthangady for treatment. He said that his attacker wore black clothes, and looked like someone from Andhra.

Choudhary jumped to escape unhurt, when his enemy fired at him, and then fired back at him, just as he vanished in the woods. He added that he was a leader at the back, in a team led by one in front in the combing operations.

Sadashiva comes from Jamkhandi taluk in Bagalkot district, and has 5 years experience as a cop in service, and 2 years in ANF therein.

He observed that local people could help cops to combat the vicious naxals, but are scared to pass on the intelligence, or share the ample information they have about enemies in the forests.
