Karkala : An injured bullock which was wandering on the roads of Karkala since the past 15 days was noticed by one Solomon Alva who brought eh matter to the notice of a local news website which in turn informed the Tahsildar who made arrangements to send a veterinarian to the spot.
ANF personnel, councilor Prakash Rao, Animal Welfare Officer Ravi Shetty and many others took the bullock to a shed owned by Karla Shivaram Shetty and get it treated for its injured legs. Even Bhajrangdal men came to the assistance.
It is a fact that a number of cattle roam astray with no home or shelter. Sometimes owners themselves leave their cattle in the open sometimes even inviting trouble.
Though the cattle found roaming on the streets are taken to the shed of the municipality and then handed over to the owners after they pay a fine, the system is proving costly for the TMC which has to spend as much as Rs 100 per cow per day.
