Karkala: An injured leopard which was spotted in the godown of a hotel in Hebri was rescued by the forest officials and let in the nearby forests on July 15, Sunday.

Villagers suspect it was the same leopard which had fallen into the trap laid for a boar near Hiriadka earlier in the month.

They said the leopard which was injured then itself, was let into the forests without giving proper treatment.

Leopards being spotted in the town has become common these days with the wild animals always on the prowl in its bid to hunt for cattle and other domestic animals.
