Mangaluru: B.V. Moolimani, Assistant Superintendent of Belagavi Central Prison, on Monday held an inquiry into a complaint by People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) accusing the District Prison staff of not taking proper care of Ahmed Qureshi, an accused in two attempt to murder cases, lodged in the jail.
PUCL office-bearers gave a representation to the DG & IGP in May 2017 on this.
Mr. Moolimani and another officials visited the prison and inquired with the PUCL office-bearers. Then they held a detailed review meeting of the arrangements in the prison and took the statement of a doctor, who regularly sees prison inmates. Mr. Moolimani refused to give details of the inquiry to reporters.
