Advocate Uttam Rai had gone to the Kadri police station regarding a case of his client, when Inspector T D Nagaraj reportedly said he would speak only to his client, to which the lawyer objected.
Inspector Nagaraj then used abusive language and asked the lawyer to go out of the Police station and when refused, was assaulted by the Inspector, alleged the lawyer, but on the other hand the inspector alleged that, Rai lawyer hit him first.
Coming to know as soon as the incident took place, lawyers gathered at the police station and demanded action against the inspector.

Ratnakar of Bhuvi Enterprises was called by Inspector, to the police station for investigation on Friday. Ratnakar, accompanied by Uttam Rai, met T.D.Nagaraj, inspector who stated, that he did not know Uttam Rai was a lawyer. Only after questioning, I came to know Uttam Rai was the lawyer. Inspector said, and that he told, Rai, to go out of his room, and wanted to talk to Ratnakar alone, for which Rai refused to leave his client alone.
