Mangalore : The 324D5 Lions Club installed its district cabinet at a special ceremony called Udaan 2011 held at Milagres Hall on Saturday.
Lion A. P. Singh, former international director of the Lions Club, installed P. Kishore Rao as district governor. Lion M. B. Sadashiv was installed as the first vice governor and Lion K. C. Prabhu was installed as the second vice governor.
Lion Nagaraj Rao, the multiple council chairman of 324D, was the guest of honor.
Nagaraj Rao had installed the Lion Cardiac Centre at J. S. Hospital. The centre is sponsored by District 324D5 and is connected to Bangalore Narayana Hrudayalaya.
Mr. Rao also said that Lions Club International District 324-D5 plans to plant one lakh saplings in DK, Hassan, Kodagu, Chikmagalur, and other districts on Aug 25. This campaign is part of Lions Club South India’s plan to plant 40 lakh saplings, a campaign led by Dr. Wing Kun Tam, the president of Lions International.
Lions Club also plans to launch an eye care project for school children in collaboration with Vasan Eye Care. The members of the club will screen school children by conducting eye tests on them, and in case of defects, the child’s parents will be informed, and required treatment will be given through the District Sight First Committee. The Lions Club plans to cover 1 lakh school children under this project.
Lion K. C. Prabhu, Lion Kedige Aravinda Rao, Lion Vinod Rao, Lion Prasad Rai, and over 1500 lions and lionesses of DK, Chickmagalur, Hassan, Coorg, and other districts participated in this programme.
