Mangalore: Mangalore Town Block Congress organized a convention with the theme ‘Congressge Banni, Badalavane Thanni” with a view to motivate people to join the party.
Senior Congress leader and former union minister who was the chief guest of the occasion, said the party needed sincere workers and not the ones who join the party merely to enjoy some post or get a chance to contest polls.
He also exhorted party workers to feel the pulse of the people and try to redress grievance.
On the Cauvery row, Poojari strongly felt that the state government had completely failed in tackling the row effectively. He also stated that the government had failed to put up its case effectively before the Supreme Court and Cauvery River Authority.
He further promised that the Congress would reduce property tax under SAS if the Congress comes to power in Mangalore City Corporation.
Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake who also spoke, was all praise for the Union government decision to allow FDI in multi brand retail sector.
Though a large number of party men were supposed to attend the meet, the rain played spoilsport and most of those attended were seen standing with umbrellas.
