Mangalore:  A three-day inter-collegiate cultural festival -2012 organized at Mangalore University was inaugurated by renowned Yakshagana artiste Chittani Ramachandra Hegde.

Speaking on the occasion, he said artistes not just need applause for their performance but also encouragement. He also wholeheartedly appreciated the encouragement given by art lovers in Karnataka to Yakshagana. Chittani further said getting Padmashree Award was a great honour for him.

Mangalore University vice Chancellor TC Shivashankermurhti presided over the function. He said the main objective of the event was to encourage student talents and bring them into focus. Registrar Prof Yadapadittaya, Dr Khader of Student Welfare Department, and principals of various colleges attended the function.
