Mangalore : The greatest contribution which one can make to the nation is to help others gain education, said Dr Umesh Aradhya, President of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Participating in an interaction programme on ‘The right of children to free and compulsory education (RTE) Act of 2009’ held at SDM College on March 12, Tuesday, he said RTE was enforced in order to see that every child got good education in these days when education was costlier.
Prof Mahesh Nayak regretted the fact that the number of students getting admitted to government schools has reduced and said it was an unwelcome development. Parents are more interested in sending their children to private schools, he added.
