Mangalore : Dr. B. S. Sherigar, the former vice chancellor of Kuvempu University in Shimoga inaugurated the one-day event organized by the chemistry department of St. Agnes College for high school students in its conference hall as part of the International Year of Chemistry on Dec 7 Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that events organized by St Agnes College will have a huge impact on school children and will inspire them to make new discoveries.
Presiding over the event, Dr. Marie Prem D’Souza, the principal of St. Agnes College, urged the students to develop an interest in chemistry.
Prof. Ronald Mascarenhas, the coordinator of the department of chemistry, welcomed the gathering. Dr. H. Jayanth delivered the introductory address. Dr. Ita M. D’Souza was the MC of the event and Helen Serrao delivered the vote of thanks.
A UGC-sponsored exhibition titled Chem Fiesta will be held as part of the event for 2 days in the college auditorium.
Prof. Dinesh Chowta, the nodal officer of SDM College in Ujire, was also present.
