Mangaluru : Yoga classes are being conducted in different parts of the city as a prelude to the International Day of Yoga on June 21.
The district administration and Department of AYUSH will observe the day by organising yoga programmes at different locations.
It was decided at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim here on Wednesday that mass yogasanas would be performed at the Mini-Vidhana Soudha at 7.30 am; at the officers’ club at Hat Hill at 8 a.m. and at indoor stadium, Mangala Stadium at 8.30 a.m.
Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Prathisthana would organise mass yoga classes on the premises of Gopalakrishna temple, Shakthinagar, Sooryanarayana temple at Maroli, Sanghaniketan at Mannagudda and at Mangalajyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
The meeting decided that all yoga performers should be present at the venue 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time. They should bring their own yoga mats. P.I. Sreevidya, Chief Executive Officer, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Ramakrishna Rao, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, Devadas, District AYUSH Officer, Gopalakrishna Delampady, Kushalappa Gowda N. and Narayana Shetty, yoga practitioners, were present.
