Mangaluru: An enquiry of Deepak Rao’s murder revealed that the four men arrested on charge of the murder had received a huge amount of money recently. It is said that the prime accused Pinky Nawaz had received the money which was transferred to his bank account. The money was then shared among the four.
All the four suspects, Pinky Nawaz, Rizwan, Mohammed Naushad and Mohammed Irshan were arrested within a few hours of the murder.
According to an investigating police officer, the purpose behind the transfer of the money is yet to be known. Deepak Rao was just a member of BJP. He was not a part of any religious organizations or a prominent leader of the party.
The family members of Deepak Rao refused compensation of Rs.5 lakh offered by Mangaluru’s MLA Mohuiddin Bava. The family members wanted to know the reason why Mohiuddin Bhava did not attend the funeral. Bava tried to convince them that the police had requested him not to go because of law and order issues, but that did not convince the family members.
Surrounding areas of Suratkal and Katipalla remained calm on Friday. No incident of violence or protest was reported since Thursday. However, the region continues to be monitored by senior police officers.
