Madikeri : A three-inch along iron piece was found inside a half litre Nandini milk sachet in Kushalnagar on Sunday. The milk sachet was supplied by Koodige milk dairy.
A customer who purchased the sachet at a Nandini franchise in Dandinapet, found the iron piece. The shop is owned by one Dilip.
On knowing the incident, Dilip’s mother, Lalitha, contacted the Koodige diary and spoke to an official, Kumar, and told him about the incident.
She also informed him that the milk was supplied at 7 am on Sunday. But the official, instead of going to the core of the problem, reportedly abused Lalitha.
Later, some officials from the dairy who visited the shop, said that the milk sachet with iron piece would be exchanged for another sachet. However, the people took the officials to task.
PSI Anup Madappa and staff came to the spot and controlled the situation.
Karnataka Milk Federation Director Arun Kumar said that the iron piece went inside the milk sachet after a spare part of the packing machine detached.
Hence, the incident did not come to the notice of employees in the plant. Officials concerned have been informed about the incident and steps have been taken to repair the machine, he said.
