Thirupati: In a damning controversial statement meant for common Consumption and set thinkers on a deep inquest of the situation, religious teacher chinna Jeeyar Swamiji has compared a visit to present day Tirupati temple to only a visit given to a club, as there was nothing left in Tirumala-Tirupati hills but a trekking club expedition.
The renowned seer was speaking in a function called to offer 1000 Tulsi to Lord Srinivasa(Sahasra Tulasi Shrinivasam). He likened the modern temple culture to ancient Roman culture that ended soon.
Jeeyar lauded catholic culture and denigrated Hindu temples of these days for looting devotees, while churches gave succour to the poor people of faith.
A religious temple of late is utilised by its trustees to parade their faith in a show of traditions. Alluding to the facilities available at Tirupati, he said people come last, everything belongs to God on the hills.
The administration council had destroyed Tirupati’s historic Waykala Mantapa to provide more space to people and conduct other activities, Jeeyar pointed out, pooh-poohing the council decision.
He had warned of some wild animals killing devotees at the time of destruction of Waykala Mantapa, but the administration council took the warning lightly, and promised to rectify maters if the Jeeyar told factually. But he had the Jeeyar told factually. But he had the right to express his opinion, TTD officials had added.
