Mangalore : The management of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Arya samaj Road celebrated Go Puja, and also Govardhan Puja which is also known as the sweet festival at T V Ramana Pai Hall, Mangalore on October 24.
The organization prepared cook fifty-six different types of food for the bhog including cereals, pulses, fruit, vegetables, chutneys, pickles, and salads which will be offered to the Deity and then distribute it among the devotees as prasadam.
They also prepared 250 kg cake purely vegetarian, with flour and other ingredients and was displayed in the dining hall for the devotees to view, after the puja it was made into pieces and distributed to everyone.
During the event, they had made the replica of the Govardhan Hill made of 250 kg of sweets including ‘bundi’, ‘ragi laddu’, ‘ragi janthikalu’, ‘kaja’, ‘Mysore pak’, ‘chakodies’, ‘coconut laddu’, ‘Sampangi flowers’, ‘jaggery arisalu’, ‘moong dal’ and others attracting huge devotees.
Large number of devotees offered diyas and participated in spiritual hymns and teachings. The event commenced with Tulasi Puja, Sandhya Arati, Gopuja and Govardhan Puja at 6.00 pm and concluded with Damodara Arati at 8.15 pm followed by Prasadam dinner.
Karnataka Bank MD Jayram Bhat MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik and District Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura participated as the chief guest.
ISKCON- Mangalore president Karunya Sagar Dasa briefed the audience about the festival and also thanked the citizens of Mangalore who had gathered in large numbers and participating in Go Puja and Govardhan Puja making it a grand success.
