There was a 10-day break and now regular rains have started during nights with cloudy skies and occasional rains during the day in the west coast of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. Even the air services are in trouble, as the other day on Thursday (July 15), an Air India Boeing had difficulty due to heavy rains lashing Bajpe and the aircraft had to go on rounds over the airport for a few minutes, before the rains slowed down and vision cleared for the pilot to land the plane.
Mangalore has been having excellent rains, day and night in the 2 days. Subrahmanya, a Ghat area, had incessant heavy rains. Udupi had non-stop rains. In Sullia at the foothills of Western Ghats had good rains and a cloudy weather. Puttur and Uppinangady had showers in the morning but in the afternoon, it rained cats and dogs for 2 hours with roads inundated. Surathkal, Kateelu, Mulky towns got lashing rains on Thursday afternoon and the skies were cloudy for night rains. Similarly, three taluks of Udupi district have received fair amount of rains to enable transplanting of rice saplings in knee-length waters. A bumper harvest of rice is expected this year. There is a growing need to harvest the pure heavenly waters falling from the skies to the earth for human beings as well as the earth to retain its underground water levels during hot days.
