Mangaluru : The three day National fest 2014-15 inaugurated in the St.Aloysius College premises here on Thursday Dec 18.
The Principal of the college, Rev Fr.Swebert D’silva SJ highlighted the importance of showcasing talents of students, organizing ability of students, giving opportunity to all students of the state. He also congratulated the students for promoting harmony and unity among the young minds by working together as a team.
The trophies of the seven fests were unveiled by the Chief Guest of the function, Shree Vasthi Venkatesh along with the dignitaries to another original composition sung by the college choir.
The Chief Guest senior division manager of the Central Bank of India, Bangaluru Vasthi Venkatesh said that “It is very rare to see institutions surviving for long years as St.Aloysius.” He educated the students about how Mangaluru is a “Cradle of Banking” and thanked the institution for its long lasting relationship with Central Bank of India.
In his presidential address, Rev.Fr.Denzil Lobo SJ said that “Geniuses are not born, they are made.”He also emphasized on how everyone is born with great potential and that “If you want to go on the journey of accomplishment you would have to start today.”
The vice president of the student council Vineeth Lasrado delivered the Vote of thanks to the dignitaries present on the dais and expressed his gratitude to all the students, staff and participants. The inauguration program was compered by Joint Secretary of Student council Satshya Anna Tharien.The Chief Guest Shree Vasthi Venkatesh also inaugurated the exhibitions organized by the Arts and the Science streams, respectively.

The ceremony was initiated by a procession of the student council members, staff coordinators, student coordinators led by student council president Lizane Tanya D’souza who also welcomed the gathering. The fest commenced with a welcome dance followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries of the day; the lamp made by the electronic students was lit by pouring a homogeneous solution, symbolizing the unity of the seven Aloysian fests to an original composition of the theme song sung by the college choir.
The Aloysian Fest – 2014 encompasses fests of diverse streams such as:
ARTBEAT: With the theme Ithihotsav, Reliving the Golden Age, the Arts fest looks back upon the nostalgic beauty of Indian history. Events such as Creative Writing ‘Krutitva’, Moot Court ‘Nyaya Kshetra’, Mock U N ‘Sanyukkth Rashtra’, photography event ‘Darpan’ and many more is being held. An exhibition on the rich culture of India is held as part of the fest.
IMPRINTS: The Science fest with the theme ‘Rejuvenating the Indian Scientific Mind’ provides a platform that brings ideas together with events such as Chaos 2.0, Science Apocalypse, Land of the lost, Gene police and many more fascinating competitions. A science exhibition ‘Shoonya Shakti’ displaying products and innovations of different agencies and the innovative working models by the students is held as part of the fest.
SPIN-OUT: The Management fest ‘The Excerptor’ has various events like Content Marketing, Best Manager, Human Resources, Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Relation Expertise to identify the attributes of young budding managers of tomorrow.
ACME: The commerce fest ‘Immortality 2K14’ with its non disclosure of events until the inauguration adding an element of surprise to the participants.
COMPOSITE: The National Level IT fest is organized exclusively by the students for the first time with the theme ‘Theatre of Transition’. It provides opportunities to the students with events like Mad ads, Paper presentation, IT quiz, Coding and Debugging, Gaming and Web designing.
ASTITVA: The Cultural and Art Fest common to all streams will be held on December 19, 2014. It is a unique fest with events such as Variety Entertainment, JAM, Painting, Turn Coat, Mad Ad and cultural events such as Classical Singing, Classical Dance (Solo and Group) which will bring all the students together to witness a cultural extravaganza.
BATTLE OF BANDS: An inter-collegiate battle of musical bands will be organized by the college for the first time on December 20 in the college grounds with a chance for the bands to win Rs 10,000.
ALOYSIAD: An inter-collegiate sports fest for men and women with events such as throw ball, basketball, softball, volleyball and football tournaments is going to be held from December 18 to December 20, 2014 at the college grounds.
PHOTO EXHIBITION: The college library is organizing a photo exhibition for three days, displaying the journey of Aloysius institutions over hundred years.
Aloysian Fest is a distinctive event organized by the college for the students across the nation. This year the fest is hoping to attract 25-30 participant colleges.
