Mangaluru: A team from the Income Tax Department visited the main branch of the Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. on the Mission Compound Road here on Wednesday.

An employee of the society who refused to divulge his name said that a team of about seven or eight persons from Bengaluru had arrived at the office in the morning. “They are looking into the accounts,” he said and refused to say anything more.

After the team visited the main branch, a board was hung at the entrance stating that the office was not functioning for the day.

Efforts to contact Jayakar Shetty Indrali, general manager of the society, came to naught.
