Mangalore: Students of various industrial training institutes (ITIs) of Mangalore have stepped up their protest in front of DC Office on September 28, Tuesday, against the decision of the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET) to hold re-examinations of two subjects for final year students.
On Tuesday, they took out a procession to the Deputy Commissioner’s office from Bhavutagudde and staged a protest at DC Office. They raised slogans against the Union Government’s decision.
Advocate Dinakar Shetty, said holding the re-examination of Workshop Science and Calculation papers would be injustice to thousands of students who had already appeared in the examinations conducted in July this year.
Student’s Union president Vishwa said that, the government is making injustice to the student’s community by holding re examination for the mistake taken place somewhere. The students of ITI are mostly poor students, who have appeared for the examination and joined for the job and waiting for the results. Hence this decision of government will spoil the life of the student’s future.
The DGET had decided to hold the re-examination following complaints of leaking of the question papers in five centers. Students asked that the re-examination be conducted in those five centers only, said Ashwath Hegde, students president.
