Mysuru: Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vijaya Bank Kishore Sansi said, the inconvenience to the people due to demonetisation is gradually reducing and the citizens will enjoy its fruits shortly.
He was speaking to media persons, after inaugurating the renovated regional office of the bank, here on Thursday. Describing the process as a wonderful step towards a strong economy, he said, it has shaken up the anti-social elements in the country and its ultimate benefits will reach the people.
“There are many dimensions to looking at demonetisation. There is definitely inconvenience to the people and there are reports about sufferings in some instances. But, since the day of demonetisation, the cash transactions in the branches as well as in ATMs has increased three folds till date in Vijaya Bank. Most of the other banks are also doing well, except for a few exceptions,” he said.
He said, he was personally visiting various states and regions to see if the guidelines of both the Central government and the Reserve Bank of India, following demonetisation, are being followed by the branches of the bank.
“We have been conducting video conferences to review the progress and to issue directions. But, site visits are also important to study the ground realities and to effect necessary changes,” he said.
He formally initiated the process of adopting two girls in Mysuru and donated wheelchairs and stretchers to the K R Hospital on the occasion. Elaborating on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of the bank, he said, so far, 1,112 girl children have been adopted across the nation and 900 of them have been adopted during the year 2016.
“The managers of the branches are vested with the responsibility of selecting the girls in their area of operation for adoption. They are selected from government schools and from economically backward families. The bank concentrates on their holistic growth and sponsors their education up to post-graduation. The girls are provided an opportunity to nurture their talent and become good citizens. If necessary, they are provided gadgets like laptops,” he said.
