Mangalore : Vice-President of DKCC, lawyer Ivan D’Souza held a press meet in the Congress office in city this afternoon, only to criticize the BJP rule and its series of political conventions in Davanagere, Gulburga and Bellary against Congress Padaytra (walk) from Bangalore to Bellary started on July 25 and to end on Aug.9 (at Bellary)
D’Souza accused the BJP leaders of holding several Rathayatras and Padaytra in a row all these years, thereby disturbing public peace and order in several places, and stated that such leaders had no right morally to criticize the Congress Party which was only taking the Iron ore Loot issue in state to the people by walking from Bangalore to Bellary, a distance of 320 kms, in a fortnight before the Independence Day.
He argued that the ruling party had failed at several levels to rule properly, and cannot criticize the opposition who point out mistakes and misrule of BJP in Karnataka.
When 150 persons died in 2009 Sept-Oct, floods in North Karnataka and other districts of the state, the BJP Ministers were revelling in Goa resorts, when DK-Udupi Congressmen have gone to Hiriyur (Chitradurga) to join in the state Congress padayatra, the local BJP chief, Padmanabha Kottari was talking about DK Congress MLAs “missing” in city! Such irresponsible statements do not make a politician, Ivan roared.
The BJP has arranged two party conventions by plundering public money and power, while the congress wants to protect state mineral wealth. All 4 Congress MLAs have retained their popularity those 2 years, he pointed out.
Ex Mayor K. Ashraf, Sadashiva Ullal, DKCC secretary T.K. Sudhir, Nagendra, Bhaskar and Praveenchandra Alva among others, attended the press meeting I DKCC today. Many Congress activists are on the pathway to Bellary along with KPCC leaders and followers.
