Mangaluru : Senior Congress leader and former MLC Ivan D’Souza expressed outrage to the state government decision to drop the proposed formation of the Christian Development Corporation in the state, without citing any reason.
Speaking to reporters here on November 17, Wednesday, Ivan urged the government to immediately reconsider its decision and form the Christian Development Corporation.
Ivan pointed out that the Christian population is around 30 lakhs in the 27 districts of the state and said there are many poor people and labourers in the community. A corporation is essential for their development, he further added.
He also said the government has done injustice to the Christian Community by not releasing funds set aside for the formation of the corporation.
Pointing out at the government decision to form Corporations for the development of Maratha community and Veerashaiva Lingayat community, he said state wide protests would be launched against injustice to the Christian community.
Party leaders Naveen D’Souza, Lancelot Pinto, Stany Alvares, and others were present.
