Mangaluru : A tweet made by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in the name of soldiers is a attempt to seek vote against code of conduct, Ivan D’Souza urged the election commission to file a suo motu case against him.
Speaking to reporters parliamentary secretary Ivan told that with the model code of conduct coming into force on March 10, the tweet amounted to violation of the model code.
Nalin on March 11 had tweeted, “One needs to vote for a man who had ordered attack on enemy country at 3am and not for those who had knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court for a terrorist at 3am. #Modi again.”
The election commission should consider it seriously and initiate action, he said reminding the BJP that protection of the country is not BJPs task alone. Indian armed forces also do not belong to the BJP. It is condemnable that BJP has stooped to such a low level to seek votes,” he added. Latest Comment

Observing that routine administration has taken a back seat since the model code of conduct was announced, Ivan urged the officials not to take undue advantage of the same and inconvenience people at large. Few officials are directing people to seek permission from police for organising religious functions/marriages. Officials allegedly are also asking people to provide list of invitees for the marriage and not to invite politicians for such functions,” he alleged.
Averring that general election is festival of democracy, Ivan said officials and all stakeholders should treat it accordingly and not as a case of ‘emergency’. Elections are part and parcel of any democratic set up and all other functions of this democracy must go on normally, he said, while urging the district administration to set up a single window system for people to seek permission for marriage, religious programmes and other social events in the district.
