Mangaluru : South MLA J R Lobo on Saturday said that he will be holding ward-wise Janasamparka Sabhe (people’s contact meetings) to go near to people of the city to hear their woes.
Participating in a Janasamparka Sabhe organised at Town Hall here, Lobo said the meetings at ward level will be conducted in the evening hours to enable people, mainly working couples for whom it would be not possible to stay back in the house, without work during morning hours, for they would be struggling hard to make ends meet.
The response for such meetings in rural areas is encouraging and people come with their woes. But it is vice-versa in urban areas where the people do not wait till such meetings to register their woes. Instead, they rather visit the nearby government offices to redress their woes, he added.
He recalled a similar programme conducted earlier in the city to hear traffic woes, but not many people turned up.
Lobo distributed cheques to beneficiaries under various social security schemes totalling Rs 4.3 lakh, financial aid towards funeral expenses, that has been increased from existing Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 and one-time financial assistance under Fisheries Department to two eligible beneficiaries totalling Rs 3 lakh.
A special Aadhaar enrolment counter has also been opened on Town Hall premises, he said.
