Mangalore: Jaago Mangalore Association which had earlier planned a protest in Mangalore to sensitize Mangaloreans and to protest against the homestay attack has cancelled the protest after the police department failed to permit the protest.
In a press release, Vijaynath Shetty, chief co-ordinator, Jaago Mangalore Association, said “the commissioner expressed his unwillingness to grant permission for the protest explaining that the issue was getting hot and the police force would be unable to handle any untoward law and order situation that might arise during the protest.”
“Our movement was meant to be a civilized and peaceful protest with the main objective being to express strong disapproval against violence, especially violence against women. Jaago Mangalore Association has no intention to break the law or create public nuisance in order to voice our protest,” he further added.
Shetty has also thanked all those who pledged their support for the protest.
