Bengaluru: Former union minister and senior Congress leader, Jaffer Sharief said that it was Indhira Gandhi’s dream to make a Dalit as a CM of Karnataka state.
He was addressing the gathering at a book release function ‘Prabuddha’ written by Dr Anand Kumar, on veteran Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge at Bengaluru Press Club on Wednesday.
“Indira Gandhi promised to make late Basavalingappa as theCM of this state, but due to some political issues he couldn’t become a CM. Now it is time for a dalit CM in Karnataka. Even Home Minister Parameshwar is also eligible for that post,” he said.
He further said that the people who came from other parties can become Cm of this state, why can’t Parameshwar?
Home Minister Dr Parameshwar said that Kharge is a ideal politician for him and other Congressmen also.
“Kharge never blamed anyone, even after missing the chance of becoming CM by inch,” he added.
Writer, Dr Anand Kumar, Chief Whip of the Government in Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza, Chairman of Karnataka State Coir Development Corporation, Kadur C Nanjappa, and former MP, Narayanaswamy, were present.
